Nike has consistently been reaching new levels this season, and nothing has changed with the release of the updated Nike Sportswear Windrunner. The 100% taffeta nylon construction is both lightweight and durable, having been cut to a loose fit to ensure a comfortable range for motion. Designed with a sports application in mind; the packable hood allows for a variety of styling options as well as providing coverage in light rain (further compensated by the water-resistant finish), while an additional internal mesh lining adds breathability in the warmer summer months. Finally ribbed hem and cuffs help heat retention in the cooler evenings of SS19. The windbreakers initial heritage in the late seventies is noted in the colours used, with a light cream body contrasted by a central red chevron and blue finishes across the arms. Final detailing includes a small swoosh on the left chest, enlarged over the rear.
The windrunner was part of the debut collection of garments released by Nike in 1978, while they were still only known for footwear. Despite being over 40 years old it is as relevant now as it was then, providing an unbeatable level of weather resistance and breathability combined with an effortlessly retro style.
